Response-Ability is a community of volunteers working full-time in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and the Dominican Republic to provide quality education and service in the Holy Child spirit. Volunteers are invited to live in our community housing with shared meals, prayer, and reflection.
In Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, volunteers live with other RA teachers and alumni on staff. Professional development includes classroom coaching, and three Professional Development Days. RA also offers scholarship opportunities to pursue a Master's degree.
The Dominican Republic missioners live with Holy Child sisters in faith-based community. Teaching in the Biblioteca Santo Nino de Jesus and now serving in the health center, DR volunteers work with experienced Program Coordinators. Throughout the year, the community goes on Volunteer Weekends for retreat. All teaching and staff communication is conducted in Spanish.
Looking for a class or agency to observe for your application? The Office of Education for the Archdiocese in your area will be able to suggest schools for you to visit. If you are applying to the Dominican Republic program and looking for a Montessori school, try looking up the school listings of the Association Montessori Internationale or American Montessori Society. DR Health Center applicants, please choose a health and include material about their work and mission when submitting your observation form. If you want to visit an RA placement, please contact Megan at megan@ravolunteers.org for more information.
